ONYX vs. traditional keratin

Classic keratin treatments rely on alcohol-based formulas that coat the surface of the hair. The product stays in the hair while it is flat-ironed, the alcohol evaporates, and the coating sets. That is where the smoke, the fumes and the stinging come from, and over time surface coating can leave hair feeling dry.
A different mechanism
ONYX is a mineral complex straightening system. It is a cold system that operates at a low pH: the cuticle opens in a controlled way, the active ingredients penetrate the fibre, and the hair is repaired and restructured from within rather than coated from without.
Rinsed before ironing
After processing, ONYX is rinsed out completely before the hair is dried and ironed. The water should run clear. Because there is no product left on the hair, there is no smoke, no burning sensation, and a cleaner, safer room for the stylist and the client.
Zero formaldehyde
The formula contains no formaldehyde. Processing takes around 45 minutes, and the result holds for four to six months with the right aftercare.
One formula, your finish
Depending on the hair and the processing your stylist chooses, the same formula delivers anything from a softer smoothing effect with natural movement to a sleek, straight, glass-like finish. The consultation decides the result, not the bottle.
Finished with a mask
The service ends with the ONYX Mask, which brings the pH back to normal, and a light pass of the iron in larger sections. The same mask is part of the aftercare routine at home.
